Salary: - £30,000 - £32,000 (depending on experience)
Key Responsibilities
• Creating and delivering a menu of 5-8 items on a daily basis
• Working some service shifts (until 8.30) serving up high quality dishes in a short time frame (this includes washing up & cleaning down the kitchen)
• Delegating and handing over some service shifts to part-time kitchen staff and ensuring they comply with high standards of preparation, presentation and all aspects of food hygiene
• Devising and delivering catering for up to 60 people during rehearsals approximately every 8 weeks
• Washing up and keeping the kitchen clean at all times
• Ordering kitchen supplies, liaising with suppliers, price checking
• Ensuring the correct storage of supplies and stock rotation
• Actively reviewing and recording the kitchen’s food safety practices and systems
• Carrying out a monthly food stock check
• Working with the Bar Manager on recording expenditure and income on the food operation
• Working with the Bar Manager to maintain a healthy GP, increase food sales and profitability
• Adhering to the Company’s Health and Safety policy at all times
• Any other duties as required.
Person Specification:
Essential:
• Creativity, a passion for food and flexibility to adapt menus to suit the unique needs of actors, directors, and theatre-goers.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Proven experience of creating recipes and food management systems that can be easily delegated and communicated
• Proven experience in a kitchen environment, with a demonstrated ability to minimize waste and maximise ingredients without compromising on taste or quality.
• Align with our theatre's commitment to ethical practices by championing sustainability and responsible food sourcing.
• Flexibility and the ability to adapt to according business needs
• Attention to detail and good organisational skills
• Great people skills and able to work as part of a team
• Good written and spoken English
Desirable:
• Food Hygiene Certificate
• Experience of working in a commercial kitchen
• Interest in working in an arts environment
