The Role

The successful candidate will:

* Provide strategic leadership and direction for the English Department, ensuring outstanding standards of teaching and learning across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5.

* Develop and implement a curriculum that inspires students and prepares them for success in GCSE and A-Level English Literature and Language.

* Mentor and support teachers within the department, fostering a culture of collaboration, professional growth, and excellence.

* Monitor student progress and attainment, implementing interventions and strategies to maximise achievement.

* Work closely with senior leadership to contribute to whole-school improvement and academic success.

* Organise and promote extracurricular activities such as literature clubs, creative writing workshops, and school productions to enrich students' learning experiences.

Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate will:

* Be a qualified teacher (QTS/QTLS) with extensive experience in English education.

* Have a proven track record of successful leadership within an English department.

* Demonstrate exceptional subject knowledge and the ability to teach A-Level English Literature and Language.

* Be passionate about fostering a love of reading, writing, and critical analysis in students.

* Possess strong leadership and organisational skills, with the ability to inspire both students and staff.
