Our client, a prominent entity in the Defence and Security sector, is on the lookout for a dedicated Electronics Engineer to join their innovative team. This permanent position offers the opportunity to significantly contribute to cutting-edge projects within the defence and security industry, ensuring high standards and technical excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

Undertake the development of electronic/electrical hardware design in alignment with quality management systems.
Ensure outputs meet required standards according to programme objectives, including schedule and budget adherence.
Provide technical input and guidance to the team and business.
Support the business in being flexible, agile, innovative, and successful.

Specific Job Responsibilities:

Develop high-quality, reliable, and safe electronic designs with relevant documentation according to design and quality standards.
Collaborate with the Engineering team and other business functions to enhance processes and implement lessons learned.
Maintain the Engineering review process with a focus on design objectives, including manufacturability, product lifecycle maintenance, safety, and warranty.
Interpret technical requirements and produce electrical schematics, PCB layouts, and Bills of Material.
Follow the product lifecycle from compliance to customer or market requirements through to final design review and certification.
Design technology in accordance with design control procedures, regulations, and directives, prioritising safety and minimal environmental impact.
Ensure customer-centric decisions that add real value for direct customers and end-users.
Liaise professionally with customers, suppliers, and subcontractors to establish technical requirements or provide technical support.
Own your professional development and highlight key opportunities to ensure the growth of both the company and its talent pool.

General Responsibilities:

Attend meetings with customers, suppliers, and other departments to discuss design requirements and project progress.
Support the preparation of design reports and technical documentation for equipment certification.
Promote the selection of materials and processes for efficient and economical manufacture.
Liaise with all departments to ensure effective design for manufacture and performance.
Engage with outside suppliers to finalise the selection of processes, materials, costs, and availability.
Occasional travel within the UK and overseas for engineering tasks.
Stay aware of current legislation, codes of practice, and standards relevant to the role.
Maintain knowledge of CE & UKCA regulations and methods of compliance.
Work within organisational frameworks and report on matters exceeding authority limits.
Undertake additional tasks as identified by the business within the interests of the company.
Develop a top-level working knowledge of relevant procedures and MRP systems.

Job Requirements:

Proven electronic design experience in industry.
Knowledge of CAD packages, such as Altium.
Experience using microcontrollers, RS422, RS232, Ethernet, and LVDS.
Understanding of product safety and compliance.
Familiarity with product development lifecycle management.
Solid understanding of root cause and countermeasures (RCCM) techniques.
Experience in risk mitigation and ALARP.
Proficient in undertaking design, safety, and process FMEA.
Ability to write and review comprehensive technical design documentation.
Excellent problem-solving skills.

Education & Qualifications:

Degree in Electronics Engineering.
Working towards Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.
