Our client is a global Commodities Trading company based in Europe with operations in Geneva, Africa, Asia and London.

This is a varied and exciting role with lots of scope for progression. The Group Financial Controller will be responsible for ensuring accounting and reporting throughout the Group while providing financial analysis and advice to traders and the management team. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Financial Management and Reporting:

  • Oversee financial operations for the Group including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial statements and regulatory reports.
  • Maintain the integrity of financial records.

Strategic Financial Planning:

  • Lead financial planning and analysis, developing financial models and projections.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to senior management.
  • Monitor and implement strategic business plans.

Risk Management and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and internal policies.
  • Establish internal control safeguards.
  • Identify and manage financial risks.

Operational and Cost Management:

  • Manage financial forecasting, budgets, and consolidation processes.
  • Oversee financial operations of subsidiaries.
  • Analyse and report on costs, pricing, sales results, and overall performance.

Leadership and Team Development:

  • Lead, support and manage the finance team currently consisting of 8 people (based in London as well as other international locations), including training and performance evaluation.
  • Foster a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Maintain relationships with auditors, regulatory authorities, banks, and financial institutions.
  • Support cost management, capital investment decisions, and efficiency improvements.
  • Communicate financial results and strategic initiatives to the board and stakeholders.

WHAT OUR CLIENT WOULD LOVE TO SEE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
  • 10+ years’ experience in financial management, preferably within the metals and mining industry, commodities experience is mandatory.
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Strong understanding of trading practices
  • Strong financial, accounting and managerial skills
  • Strong ability to implement and monitor internal controls
  • Technically astute with a sound knowledge of financial fundamentals.
  • Proven experience in strategic planning, treasury, financial analysis, financial regulations and standards and reporting.
  • Strong understanding of FX markets and hedging
