About the job.
As a Traffic Signal/ Control Product Specialist,you will use your technical expertise and stakeholder skills to both support colleagues and develop/own our technical specifications related to traffic signal/control products. Your responsibility will cover traffic signals, ramp metering and the traffic management cell, though we don't expect you to know about all of these on day one. We'll support you as you build up knowledge of your portfolio.
This is an exciting and fast paced role that will allow you to work with fellow specialists, improving the way in which NH utilises technology as well as providing key contributions and technical support to the delivery of major national infrastructure.
Please note this role can be based from any of our UK offices, as well as working in a hybrid capacity. We are a national team so there will be a requirement for occasional travel to one of our offices for meetings, most commonly Birmingham.
- Lead and provide strategic direction for the technologies in your portfolio.
- Develop and maintain the suite of technology specifications for relevant products to ensure they deliver the requirements for us to procure and implement the required solutions.
- Be the technical lead as we develop a new generation of Ramp Metering services.
- Along with your colleagues, help us develop product roadmaps for our operational technology end-to-end services, exploiting new technologies and driving innovation within operational technology.
- Drive proactive stakeholder engagement and relationship building both within the broader NH business and the supply chain.
About you.
- Experience across Operational Technologies such as Traffic Signals, Ramp Metering and other traffic control products and of working with business and technology stakeholders to translate operational requirements into service and technology systems.
- Knowledge of or have worked with some of the following: signs/signals, Stopped Vehicle Detection Radar, Video (CCTV) systems.
- Knowledge of or have worked with some of the following interfaces and protocols such as: UTMC, NTCIP, DATEX2, NMCS2.
- Possess a good understanding of technical governance with the ability to participate in or supporting the assurance of a service.
- Possess an understanding of the functional safety of control systems.
- An understanding of legislative documents such as standards for highways/DMRB or the TOPAS library along with broader ITS experience would be advantageous.

External candidates will be offered a starting salary at the lower end of the pay scale, while current employees will be appointed in accordance with our established pay policy.
