Job Summary

DK Recruitment are seeking a hands-on and detail-oriented Finance Manager to join our clients' team in a dynamic utilities and groundworks business. This role is essential in ensuring accurate financial control across multiple ongoing projects, managing day-to-day financial operations, and providing strategic insight to support business growth. The ideal candidate will bring experience in the construction or infrastructure sector and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, site-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

* Oversee all aspects of financial management including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.

* Monitor job costing, project margins, and work-in-progress (WIP) reports to ensure profitability across groundworks and utility contracts.

* Manage accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and cash flow to maintain healthy financial operations.

* Liaise with site managers, quantity surveyors, and operational teams to ensure accurate and timely cost capture and financial reporting.

* Prepare and present monthly management accounts to the senior leadership team.

* Ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal financial controls.

* Coordinate year-end audit processes and liaise with external accountants.

* Drive efficiencies across finance processes and contribute to the digital transformation of financial operations.

* Maintain and develop finance systems to support business performance and growth.

Requirements

* Proven experience in a finance or accounting role within construction, utilities, civil engineering, or a similar industry.

* Strong understanding of job costing, CIS (Construction Industry Scheme), and project-based accounting.

* AAT qualified or part/fully qualified (ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) preferred.

* Excellent Excel skills and experience with accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, QuickBooks).

* Strong communication skills and the ability to partner with operational and commercial teams.

* Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and prioritise workload effectively
