Purpose of the role
To inspect, maintain and repair Mendip Rail managed infrastructure in order that routine operation of running lines is made available for planned train services to meet the company's business commitments. Ensure upkeep of the track work, storage areas and work equipment at Whatley and Merehead.
Key Accountability
Maintain company's managed infrastructure to company standards; (Inspections repairs and renewals.
Support and deputise for the Track Maintenance Foreman; When they are on leave.
Comply with the company's Safety Rules, Health and Safety Policy, Environmental Policy and site specific rules in order to ensure that all activities are conducted within the requirements of company standards;
When deputising for the Track Maintenance Foreman , ensure supervision of contractors for maintenance activities involving the track/siding and yard locations at Merehead and Whatley;
Ensure the safe standard of contractors carrying out maintenance activities involving the track/siding and yard locations at Merehead and Whatley;
Ensuring the most efficient solution is reached to maintaining the infrastructure;
Ensure that all tools/plant and equipment is used, stored and maintained to the company's standards;
Ensure that Health and Safety requirements - with regard to operational and administrative areas are maintained to the company standards;
Liaise with the Track Maintenance Foreman to ensure competency and training is up to date;
Responsibility for the implementation and upkeep of 5S, including Best Practice techniques ;
Working without direct supervision.
Hold plain line S&C inspection and maintenance competence.
Forklift competence, 360 competence, track maintenance vehicles.
On Call for track defects and derailments.
