DEFENCE COMPANY REQUIRES A SKILLED FITTER!

Our key Defence Client seeks skilled operatives to work in their world-class manufacturing facility.

This is a four day a week opportunity.

You must be capable of obtaining SC Clearance, and one week expensed training in Bedfordshire, prior to completing the remainder of the two-year contract in Wales (Merthyr Tydfil).

As a minimum, you will be a skilled fitter / assembler - perhaps from an aircraft / aerospace / vehicular / trains / coach building background.

The successful candidate will join a thriving and modern environment, working from test procedures and engineering instructions on a programme critical to the MOD.

You will be tasked with performing precise and methodical completion of a range of test procedures on high value hardware.

* Ability to complete set-ups and perform quality and performance testing.

* Ability to work from written instructions with limited supervision.

* Ability to use hand tools and measuring equipment with high accuracy.

* Ability to liaise with the test support, engineering and Quality functions.

* Attention to detail and ability to self-inspect work to ensure quality defects are mitigated.

* Hands-on experience in a manufacturing setting.

* Understanding of “clean as you go”/6S/FOD/Tool control programs mandatory.

* Experienced with quality inspection points and process documentation.

* A very high level of health and safety awareness.

* Must be able to take direction well and is a strong team player.

* Extreme attention to detail and continual pursuit of perfection.

* Excellent listening and communication skills.

Excellent organisational skills and problem-solving skills.

Only one weeks training required in Ampthill, the rest of the training will be undertaken in Merthyr.

£33,250 - 34,250. Just to confirm we could go to a maximum of £34,250

The over time rates are as follows:
1.25 hrs Monday to Thursday
1.50 hrs Friday and Saturday
2.0 hrs on Sunday

Working hours are 7.00am to 5.00pm Monday-Wednesday and 7.00am to 4.30pm on Thursday with every Friday being off.

Please note this role requires UK defence security clearance to SC level as a minimum, you must be SC clearable to apply for this role
