GSL Education is seeking a full-time Teacher of English for a York Secondary School, starting in September 2024. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced teacher looking for a new challenge, or an Early Career Teacher looking for a full-time position.

Teacher of English Responsibilities:

Plan and teach well-structured, engaging lessons to your assigned classes, developing and following plans, curriculum and schemes of work for Key Stage 3 and GCSE English.
Adapt teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of pupils, ensuring awareness of any SEND needs of pupils in assigned classes.
Prepare students for their Year 11 GCSE examinations, through interventions, mock exams and revision sessions.
Undertake duties as a Form Tutor.
Manage pupil behaviour in-line with the school's behaviour management policies, ethos and values.
Teacher of English Requirements:

Hold UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a degree at 2:2 or higher.
Relevant teaching experience for Key Stage 3 and GCSE English Literature and Language.
The ability to effectively differentiation schemes of work and lesson plans for students with additional needs, such as learning difficulties and autism.
Awareness of and the ability to use a range of teaching and learning strategies for improving the learning and achievement of all pupils.
An Enhanced DBS registered to the update service, or the willingness to apply for one via GSL Education. DBS sponsorship is available for this position.
