GSL Education's Washington branch is seeking dedicated individual with a strong passion for supporting the Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs of young people to join our team as an SEMH Teaching Assistant - Secondary in our client schools.

The Role:

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant - Secondary, you will play an important role in the lives of the learners. You will be responsible for delivering instructions to the specially challenged learners in various school activities. You will work closely with teachers and support staff to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment, helping students overcome barriers to their education. Your responsibilities will represent your hard work & potential.

Key Responsibilities of SEMH Teaching Assistant - Secondary:

Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs.
Need to work patiently with the specialized learners under a teacher or an instructor with academic and extracurricular activities.
Assist with the preparation of learning materials and resources.
Work closely with the teachers and the other organizational staff to develop and implement personalized learning plans.
Attend to catch all student's unique strengths and challenges specially the challenged ones.
A supportive and playful learning environment.
Participate in school events and activities that enrich the student's experience.
Work collaboratively with teachers to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
Essential Requirements for SEMH Teaching Assistant - Secondary:

A recent degree or specialisations in special education, psychology, social work or a related field that is particularly relevant for SEMH teaching.
Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of SEMH challenges and effective support strategies.
Creativity and adaptability to design and implement effective support strategies.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
