Housing Options OfficerTemporary, Full Time£25-£26 p/h via umbrella Location: PontypriddWe are seeking a Housing Options Officer for a Local Authority based in Pontypridd on a 6-month temporary contract with the possibility to go permanent. This role is ideal for those experienced in housing services, focused on providing front-line, customer-oriented support to individuals and families facing housing difficulties.As a Housing Options Officer you will:
  • Provide frontline service and specialist advice to prevent and relieve homelessness.
  • To carry out assessment and ensure compliance with the duties placed on the Council under the requirements of the Housing (Wales) Act 2014.
  • Ensure statutory obligations are met.
  • To deal with enquires from Housing Register applicants to give advice about rehousing prospects and alternative housing options
Housing Options Officer Responsibilities:
  • Offer comprehensive advice on housing needs in person or by phone.
  • Participate in the duty rota and respond to emergencies.
  • Prevent and relieve homelessness through various actions, including negotiations and referrals.
  • Create and monitor Personalised Housing Plans.
  • Assist customers in accessing housing opportunities.
  • Liaise with social care teams, health providers, landlords, and other agencies.
  • Conduct outreach services and facilitate Housing Advice Surgeries.
Housing Options Officer Required Experience:
  • Good interviewing and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills with an empathetic approach.
  • Strong IT and letter-writing skills.
  • Experience providing housing advice and liaising with various organisations.
  • Experience in a housing service or similar field.
  • Experience in Housing Wales Act 2014
  • Ability to manage your workload and work within a team.
  • Willingness to conduct face-to-face interviews with homeless applicants.
