Locum Specialist Band 6 Paediatric Occupational Therapist

* £28 per hour

* 3-month locum contract

* Harlow, Essex, CM18

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Locum Specialist Band 6 Paediatric Occupational Therapist. The successful candidate will provide specialist assessment and management of infants, children, and young people aged 0-19 across various community settings and local specialist educational provisions. This role involves working collaboratively with families, educators, and healthcare professionals to support the developmental and functional needs of young clients.

Assessment and Evaluation

* Conduct comprehensive assessments of infants, children, and young people to identify their physical, sensory, cognitive, and emotional needs.

* Use a range of assessment tools and techniques to develop individualized intervention plans.

Therapeutic Interventions

* Develop and implement effective therapy programs tailored to each child's specific needs and goals.

* Provide interventions aimed at enhancing fine motor skills, sensory processing, self-care, and play skills.

* Use adaptive equipment and technology to support functional independence.

Collaboration and Consultation

* Work closely with families, caregivers, and educators to ensure a holistic approach to each child's care.

* Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, and individualized education program (IEP) meetings.

* Provide training and advice to parents, teachers, and other professionals on how to support children's occupational performance.

Documentation and Reporting

* Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including assessment findings, treatment plans, progress notes, and reports.

* Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and organizational standards for documentation.

* Communicate effectively with other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care.

Professional Development

* Stay current with advancements in paediatric occupational therapy practices and relevant research.

* Engage in continuing professional development (CPD) activities and reflective practice.

* Supervise and mentor junior staff and occupational therapy students as appropriate.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

* Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.

* Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

* At least 2 years of post-qualification experience in paediatric occupational therapy.

* Strong clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills.

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

* Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Desirable

* Experience in community settings and educational provisions.

* Knowledge of current best practices and evidence-based approaches in paediatric occupational therapy.

* Training in specific therapeutic techniques relevant to paediatrics
