The Leverhulme Research Centre for Forensic Science is a 10 year £10 Million project with the remit to disrupt positively the current forensic science ecosystem. As a key appointment in the £10m Leverhulme Research Centre we are recruiting for an exceptional individual to join us as a Virtual Reality Software Engineer within our team.
We seek a talented Virtual Reality Software Engineer, who will be responsible for developing Virtual Reality applications for use by forensic and crime scene practitioners.
The successful candidate will have a relevant discipline, such as software or game development, with experience in the industry as a Unity developer. The candidate should have demonstrable experience in developing Virtual Reality applications, preferably with experience in designing, developing and maintaining multiplayer applications and knowledge of Cloud Content Delivery frameworks.
Your priorities will include:
- Lead research to coordinate, enhance and develop Virtual Reality applications using industry-standard tools and state-of-the-art technologies.
- Design and lead the application of software development best practices, including version control, documentation, testing, and debugging.
- Interpreting the findings obtained from research projects and develop new insights, expanding, refining and testing hypotheses and preparing report for stakeholders.
- Develop, validate and apply robust multiplayer features to deploy together with cloud content delivery based functionalities.
Who we're looking for:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in Virtual Reality development, including hands-on experience with VR hardware, software, and development platforms (e.g., Unity, Unreal Engine, WebXR).
- Strong programming skills in languages such as C#/C++ and familiarity with relevant VR frameworks and libraries.
- Solid understanding of user interfaces (UI) and user experience (UX) principles and the ability to design intuitive and user-friendly GUI.
