Assistant Planner to Associate Town Planner

The Role

My client is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Assistant Planner through to Associate Town Planner to join the Bristol office. The role offers an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual to progress their career within a supportive and dynamic environment.

You will be involved in a broad range of planning projects such as residential, Energy, commercial and leisure schemes with a wide ranging portfolio of clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing and submitting planning applications, appeals, and representations
  • Supporting or leading on the management of planning projects from inception to completion
  • Engaging with local planning authorities, stakeholders, and clients to facilitate project progress
  • Conducting site appraisals, research, and analysis of planning policies
  • Assisting in the preparation of development plans and proposals
  • Attending public consultations and stakeholder meetings
  • Working collaboratively within the team to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget
  • Staying updated with changes in legislation and planning policy

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree in Town Planning or a related discipline (RTPI accredited or equivalent)
  • Working towards or achieving MRTPI membership
  • Relevant experience in planning, ideally within consultancy or local authority (varying depending on the level of role from Assistant to Associate)
  • Strong knowledge of the UK planning system and legislation
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and independently
  • Good report writing and presentation skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
