We are seeking a proactive and strategic Head of Sales & Marketing to join our clients Senior Leadership Team and play a key role in driving the growth and success of their business. Reporting directly to the Managing Director and leading a current team of x2 BDM’s, this position will lead the sales function and drive key initiatives to expand market share, increase client retention, and build strong customer relationships.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sales leadership within the manufacturing industry (or related field), a keen ability to develop strategic insights, and a proven track record in leading and mentoring high-performing teams. You will bring a collaborative approach to leadership and be passionate about achieving results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Sales Planning: Develop and implement a comprehensive, forward-thinking sales strategy targeting key markets, with a focus on expanding market share and driving business growth.
- Market & Client Analysis: Analyse client retention rates and market share data to identify opportunities for growth, improvement, and potential acquisitions.
- Team Leadership & Mentorship: Lead, mentor, and inspire the sales team to enhance performance and account management. Foster a collaborative and results-oriented environment while developing team capabilities.
- Sales Pipeline Development: Assist in the transition to SAP, establishing KPIs and sector-specific sales targets. Build and maintain a visible, actionable sales pipeline to ensure long-term success.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with senior management, particularly the Head of Operations, to ensure seamless coordination between sales, production, and workflow.
- Strategy Alignment: Attend quarterly strategy meetings with the Senior Management Team (SMT) to assess progress, refine the sales strategy, and contribute to fostering a positive organizational culture.
- Business Development: Identify and pursue large, high-value projects, including opportunities with prospective clients across a variety of sectors including construction, marine, automotive, and OEMs.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a sales leadership role within the manufacturing industry.
- Clear evidence of a structured approach to Sales & Marketing management.
- Strong bias for Business Development Management with a focus on securing new opportunities.
- Strong commercial acumen and previous budget responsibility with a strategic mindset.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with both clients and colleagues.
- Experience in developing and implementing sales strategies.
- Familiarity with CRM systems; experience with SAP is advantageous but not essential.
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment while driving independent initiatives.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Proven experience in a senior sales leadership role within a related industry.
- Strong strategic mindset with the ability to analyse market data and identify growth opportunities.
- Commercial management of a sales function (identify long-term partnerships that are profitable)
- Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and guide teams to achieve ambitious targets.
- Experience with CRM tools and sales platforms; familiarity with SAP is a plus.
- Demonstrated success in client relationship management and business development, with a focus on large-scale projects.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with senior management to align strategies and objectives.
Location and Mobility:
- The role will be contracted to the Liverpool Head Office. (Offices and manufacturing facility all under one roof)
- While candidates from outside the Merseyside area will be considered, you must be physically able to be on-site 2-3 days a week and be able to travel nationally to visit clients as required.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Basic Salary: £70,000 - £80,000
- Bonus: Up to 10% of annual salary

- Holidays: 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
