Premises Assistant

Red Rock Consultants are currently working with a leading independent secondary school based in Hammersmith, London.

They are now seeking a dedicated and reliable Premises Assistant to join their team and help maintain the high standards of the school environment.

As a key member of the premises team, you will be responsible for ensuring that the school's buildings and grounds are kept in excellent condition, ensuring the safety and security of the premises, and providing support for daily maintenance tasks.

The working hours are term time (plus 10 days during the summer holiday when public examination results are published), plus the full week in which the term starts and finishes. Monday-Thursday 10.00am - 6.00pm, Friday 10.00am - 5.00pm with one hour for lunch.

Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Key Responsibilities:

* Repairs & Decoration: Carry out minor repairs and general maintenance work to school buildings and furniture. Update and progress tasks using the Premises task planning system.

* Security: Open and close the school as directed. Lock and secure the building, set alarms, and attend to emergency call-outs as a registered keyholder.

* Cleaning & Maintenance: Spot clean spillages, maintain cleanliness around the school, clear leaves and debris, and ensure cleaning materials are safely stored.

* Other Duties: Assist with grounds maintenance, distribute deliveries, move furniture and equipment, and support events and lettings outside regular hours.

Qualifications & Skills Required:

* Previous experience in a similar role, ideally within a school or commercial environment.

* A clean driving licence required as role may involve driving the school minibus.

* Strong repair, maintenance, and decorating skills.

* Ability to manage security tasks, including call-outs and maintaining safety systems.

* A valid First Aid qualification and SIA training (or willingness to obtain).

* Ability to carry out physical tasks, including lifting and moving furniture.
