About the Structural Engineer role:

Until now the company have sub contracted Structural Engineers, but have now decided it is the right time to recruit an in-house Structural Engineer to strengthen their team and help take the company to the next level in their growth plans!

By having in-house structural engineering capabilities, this will allow the company to design structures to the most efficient timber and steel sizes, and best connection details. Keeping them competitive, and structurally compliant.

This role would work within technical, however have a sales support function and assist the Sales Support Manager with advising structural designs for costings and estimating in partnership with purchasing.

You will be responsible for ensuring Structural Compliance of all products and working with other functions in the business to provide estimation and structural design advice.

Duties for the Structural Engineer role:

* Structural Engineer within the company, supported by external Structural for second checks as required to comply with best practices.

* Structural checks/calculations of all products and variances

* Structural advice and estimating support to sales and purchasing

* Structural advice to technical and design including overall structural work, material selection and connection details.

* Providing site specific loadings and/or foundation design to customers as require

* New Product Design and Development

* Quantifying value engineering designs and opportunities though effective structural design.

* Ensuring compliance of products to relevant design standards.

Qualification, Key Skills & Abilities required for the Structural Engineer role:

* Structural Engineering Qualification

* Member of relevant professional body (MIStructE preferred)

* Understanding of different materials and their structural design impact

* Understanding of connection details and their structural design impact

* Knowledge of relevant design standards including BS EN 1991, BS EN 1993 and BS EN 1995

* Clear logical thinking, communicative

* Organised

* Numerate & literate

* IT competent

* Able to work in a busy environment

* Previous or related experience a requirement.
