What is the role about?

The BI Developer will be a part of the BI Team, specifically the BI Development Team. The BI Development Team are responsible for designing, building, and maintaining data infrastructure platforms. We transform raw data into the building blocks of meaningful analytics and insights that RinP use for decision-making. Dev Team tasks include developing data models, maintaining data pipelines, implementing data storage solutions, and ensuring data accuracy.

Just some of your day-to-day responsibilities will include

Day-to-day tasks can vary quite a lot and a high level of autonomy will be granted so it is essential that the BI Developers are able to effectively manage their own tasks and time, along with taking opportunities to create and update documentation, simplify and automate processes, and work with other teams in the business to troubleshoot and offer solutions.

Some general tasks specific to the BI Developer role are:

Data Pipeline Architecture

  • Building, testing, and maintaining database pipeline architectures in ADF and Snowflake.

Data Modelling

  • Designing and maintaining data models in Snowflake, Dataflows, and Power BI. Establishing connections between different information locations and systems.

Data Orchestration

  • Manipulating raw data to make it more accessible, organized, and easier to analyse for people both inside and outside of the BI team.

Dataset Creation

  • Working with specific criteria from Operations or Analyst teams to source the correct data, build cohesive datasets and create measures and KPIs as a "single source of truth" for reporting.

Best Practice and Support

  • Applying and documenting best practices to provide clean, transformed datasets across the team. Supporting other teams with Snowflake / PBI models and knowledge sharing.

Collaboration

  • Working with other team members to ensure efficient data workflows, accurate reporting figures, and insights deliveries.

To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone with

  • Technical Skills Required
  • Understanding of ETL / ELT processes
  • Understanding and experience with DDL / DML
  • Query optimisation and performance tuning
  • Proficiency in SQL and DAX (Python would be desirable)
  • Star schema data modelling
  • Experience with or knowledge of:
  • Azure Data Factory
  • Snowflake
  • MS Power Platform - Power Apps / Power Automate
  • GitHub
