The Opportunity
Our client is one of the UK's largest and most reputable Engineering consultants. They are currently searching for a C&I Engineer to join their team out of their Reading office. There will, however, be the occasional requirement for travel to the North East. 

Contract - This role has been deemed inside IR35
Duration:   12 months rolling

You will be working on a verity of projects on a major government framework. This role is offered on a contract basis, with 40 hours per week expected. You will be able to work flexible hours and on a hybrid basis.

Please note, due to the nature of the projects, candidates must be eligible for UK Security Clearance. This means that we are unable to consider candidates who are not UK Nationals, or those who require sponsorship, now, or in the future.

Your duties and responsibilities will be
Development of Instrumentation Datasheets and selection of suitable devices for Pressure, Level, Temperature, Flow and Analytical Measurement Applications.
Development of Valve datasheets for automatic control and isolation valve assemblies.
Development of concept and detail designs for integrated measurement and control systems. This includes:
Production of Equipment Schedules
Hook-up Drawings
Block Cable Diagrams
Wiring Schematics
Control Panel General Arrangements
Loop Diagrams and Equipment Layouts
Production of User Requirement Specifications for control systems.
Production of Functional Control Descriptions defining control system functions, interfaces, and operator interaction requirements. You will have the following qualifications & experience
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, Instrumentation or Control Engineering
10+ years' experience working in engineering design in the nuclear, chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, mechanical handling or water industries.
Familiar in working in multi-discipline teams evidencing ability to coordinate activities with other disciplines and engineering departments.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to learn quickly and develop innovative ideas to novel problems.
Can demonstrate understanding of Safety Systems designed to BS EN 61508 / BS EN 61511.
Ability to manage and progress work independently requiring limited intervention from the engineering leadership team.
Strong communicator with the ability to efficiently develop documentation using appropriate technical language to describe processes, ideas, and designs.It's great if you also have the following
Understanding of design realisation and how decisions made in the engineering phase of a project affect testing, construction, commissioning, and operation.
Familiar with Functional Safety principles. Basic understanding of 61508 / 61511 / 13849 as a minimum - TUV Certification is preferred but not essential.
Complementary Task Experience
Familiarity with alarm rationalization processes.
Familiarity with Cyber Security for industrial control systems.
Experience designing, I&C systems for operation in explosive atmospheres (ATEX).
Experience with production of, or input to 3D engineering models.The setting for the role
Risks and Hazards are in line with working on a nuclear licenced site. These can include, nuclear fuel, radiation, chemicals and gasses, high voltage equipment, moving vehicles, flammable materials, high pressure circuits, steam, high noise and vibration levels. A full site induction will be provided and all safety requirements must be adhered to when entering the site.
