Job purpose:

To assist in the delivery of a range of services provided by the University's Campus Services to support the day-to-day business of the University which will include:

maintaining centrally bookable classrooms, providing a postal delivery and collection service within buildings, carrying out minor office moves, setting up and setting down for events and conferences, moving items as required both within the campuses and externally. To provide customer support by advising students, staff, visitors and conference delegates and assisting with general campus queries.

To work within the Portering Team on an alternating shift basis, 1st Week (Apply online only), 2nd Week (Apply online only), Monday to Friday.

Main duties and responsibilities

The Locking & unlocking of academic buildings, classrooms and lecture theatres as required.
Maintaining classrooms, lecture theatres and public areas including the arranging and movement of furniture, preparing space for a variety of uses throughout the business cycle to include Teaching, Exams, Graduation, Events, Conferences etc.
Maintaining the curtilage of academic buildings and the correct disposal and recycling of wastes, ensuring the external appearance of buildings is to a high standard including: steps, entrance halls and porches etc.
Fire safety: to assist with the implementation emergency procedures and assist with evacuation of buildings and ensure that all entry and exits are regularly checked to provide clear and safe routes in case of evacuation.
To assist the Zonal Building Support Officer with fire bell testing as required Postal:
