Adecco are delighted to be supporting a London Borough Council in their recruitment of an interim Fire Safety Project Manager.

The Fire Safety Project Manager will oversee and ensure the implementation of comprehensive fire safety measures across the council's housing and public building portfolio. This role involves managing fire safety projects from inception to completion, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and regulations, and enhancing the safety and well-being of residents and building users.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Management:
    • Lead and manage fire safety projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
    • Develop detailed project plans, set milestones, and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Monitor project progress and adjust plans as needed to ensure successful project delivery.
  2. Fire Safety Compliance:
    • Ensure all council properties comply with fire safety regulations, including the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, Fire Safety Act 2023, fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022 and any other relevant legislation.
    • Keep up to date with changes in fire safety legislation and best practices.
    • Develop Fire Door Safety Protocols and Ongoing Inspection Regime.
  3. Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Liaise with colleagues, residents, building users, contractors, and other stakeholders to communicate fire safety measures and project updates.
    • Provide technical advice and support to council staff, contractors, and residents on fire safety issues.
  4. Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain comprehensive records of fire safety projects, assessments, inspections, and project documentation.
    • Prepare and present regular reports on project status, risks, and outcomes to senior management and council committees.
    • Report progress against Fire Door Inspection Plan and on other Fire Safety Projects.
  5. Team Leadership:
    • Lead a team of fire door inspectors and other relevant staff, providing guidance, training, and performance management.
    • Foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the team.
  6. Budget Management:
    • Manage project budgets, ensuring financial control and value for money.
    • Identify and pursue funding opportunities for fire safety projects.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Fire Safety Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Or relevant Industry Experience and Training
  • Professional certification in fire safety (e.g., NEBOSH Fire Safety and Risk Management, IFSM membership).
  • Extensive experience in fire safety management within a local government or large property portfolio context.
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale fire safety projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of fire safety legislation and best practices.
  • Excellent project management skills, with experience using project management software.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team, manage budgets, and deliver projects on time and within budget.

Desirable:

  • Experience working in a London Borough Council or similar public sector environment.
  • Knowledge of building regulations and health and safety standards.
  • Experience in conducting fire investigations and root cause analysis.
