Are you an inspirational, driven, and enthusiastic SEN Teacher who is looking to make a long-term, positive difference to the lives, progress and development of children? If so, we want to hear from you!Prospero Teaching are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Class Teacher to work in one of our inspirational SEN Schools in Morpeth on a full-time and long-term basis to start ASAP. The School supports pupils across the Primary and Secondary age range and there will be opportunities for the Class Teacher to work with pupils of all ages across the School depending on the preference and experience of the successful Candidate.

The role will involve planning and delivering lessons to small classes of pupils with a wide range of SEN and challenging behaviour, including Severe Learning Difficulties, ASD, ADHD and SEMH. Some pupils may be none-verbal or pre-verbal, so the relationship-building skills and resilience of the successful candidate will be key. The Class Teacher will have the support of Teaching Assistants within all lessons.

A key part of the role will be to differentiate lessons appropriately and work effectively alongside other members of staff to ensure all pupils are able to make progress and are taught in a way that is suited to their individual needs and learning styles. Another key part of the role will be to build positive relationships with pupils and other members of staff to ensure challenging behaviour is managed in a positive, proactive, and consistent manner.

This role will involve:

  • Planning and teaching engaging and informative lessons that inspire pupils with a wide range of SEN and allows all pupils to make progress.
  • Working with Primary and Secondary aged pupils with a wide range of SEN and challenging behaviour
  • Building positive relationships with pupils and Teaching Assistants to create excellent learning environments.
  • Managing challenging behaviour in a positive, proactive and consistent manner
  • Differentiating lessons appropriately to suit the needs and earning styles of all pupils.
  • Using varied methods of assessment to assess pupil progress
  • Displaying high levels of enthusiasm, energy and positivity when working with children.
  • Working effectively with Teaching Assistants to ensure children receive the best possible educational experience

This role requires:

  • An Enhanced DBS (ideally on the Update Service but this is not essential as we can process a new one for you)
  • QTS
  • Experience of utilising a range of methods to assess pupil progress
  • Strong knowledge of the National Curriculum
  • Strong relationship-building skills with an ability to build rapport
  • A positive and resilient attitude towards Teaching and work
  • Experience of Teaching within the UK
  • A genuine passion for Teaching
  • Strong organisation and communication skills
  • A commitment to CPD
