GSL Education are recruiting a Design Technology Teacher to work within a Client Secondary School located in York, North Yorkshire, starting as soon as possible. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate knowledge and passion for the subject, as well as a commitment to supporting the department's day-to-day operations.

Applications from Design Technology teachers with a variety of disciplinary backgrounds and specialisations are encouraged, regardless of having experience or being recently qualified.

About this Role:

Primary duties include teaching Design & Technology students of KS3, KS4 and KS5, lesson planning, and developing medium- and long-term plans.
Implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for students and to support a designated curriculum area as appropriate.
Evaluating the ability of individual students, putting together BTEC materials for exams, and helping students with special needs.
Support students by delivering differentiated Design Technology lessons that are accessible to students with varying special needs.
Contribute and engage in extra-curricular Design and Technology activities.

Take part in staff training days, staff meetings and parent's evenings.
Design Technology Teacher requirements:

A UK teaching qualification namely e.g. PGCE in Design and Technology or B.Ed with QTS.
Proven experience teaching Design Technology, ideally in an SEN or inclusive setting, with a strong understanding of the challenges and strategies for working with students with SEN.
Interested in children as individuals, in how they learn and in a collaborative approach to learning.
Aware of appropriate strategies for mixed-attainment teaching and adapt to the varying demands of each classroom situation.
Be effective at behaviour management linked to complex social, emotional, and mental health needs.
Hold an Enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for a new one.
