Copello have partnered with an established defence engineering business based in Havant in the recruitment of a Project Purchaser.

Please note that candidates must be eligible for SC Clearance.

As the Purchasing Team Leader, your work will focus on these responsibilities:

* Responsible for the day-to-day operational Procurement team

* Responsible for the tactical execution of both direct and Indirect purchasing

* Manage day to day team issues ensuring escalation where necessary

* People development and driving the growth of skills and knowledge within the procurement team

* Supporting the Supply Chain Manager in meeting the supply chain KPIs and initiatives

* Ensuring all requests for purchase are actioned in a timely manner and the department delivers the required service to all internal customers

* Negotiating and placing Purchase Orders (POs), ensuring reporting and delivery promises are maintained by vendors with information communicated to the purchaser

* Managing relationships with existing suppliers

* Alongside the Supply Chain Manager, consolidate and leverage direct and indirect spend

* Reviewing and negotiating payment terms

* Managing supplier performance to ensure output is in line with SLAs and KPIs

* Proactively manage the performance and development of the Purchasing Team

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:

* Previous experience of working in a purchasing environment, including being able to demonstrate the use of best practice

* Strong Manufacturing experience

* Previous SAP MRP experience

* The ability to communicate well with others and encouraging others in the team to do the same is essential

* Proven leadership, decision making, and organisational skills are a must

* Ability to interrogate data to identify problems and action improvement activities
