Job Summary
A mature and levelheaded attitude is a necessity of the Registered Manager, as is the ability to communicate excellently, both verbally and in writing. You must be able to prioritise your work,nwork independently when required and maintain records and file notes. Teamwork is an essential element of the Registered Manager's role and applicants must be able to demonstrate a commitment to teamwork and possess leadership skills.
You must hold a full driving license and have the use of a vehicle. Applicants should have an exemplary disciplinary record, be reliable, trustworthy, and of good character and integrity, with a good attendance record.

Duties
• Develop a positive working environment which nurtures and rewards good practice through training and development.
• Ensure homes are prepared for Ofsted Inspections.
• To complete assessments and specific work relating to the Diploma Level 3 and the
apprenticeships for all relevant staff.
• Provide regular supervision and annual appraisals to Deputy Managers and other employees in line with company procedures and standards.
• Monitor staff sickness, taking action to address any concerns or issues. Ensuring the HR Toolkit is kept up to date.
• To ensure good quality working relationships are built and maintained between staff and the young people they are supporting.
• Ensure a range of meetings take place that include young people as well as staff.
• Work with the Recruitment Manager/ HR to ensure the recruitment and retention of staff
with a positive value base and person-centred approach.
• Provide support and guidance to the staff teams.
• Ensure staff attend all mandatory and refresher training.
• Where necessary ensure all disciplinary and grievance procedures are carried out in line with Company policy and statutory requirements.
• To ensure sickness is appropriately addressed, and back to work and welfare meetings are conducted within a timely manner.
• To manage change effectively and relay the information to staff in a positive manner.
• Provide regular On Call cover as part of a rota basis.
• Ensure staff adhere to policies and procedures, statutory guidance and all other legislation.
• Complete Missing from Home Interviews with young people after any missing incidents.

To manage staff on a day-to-day basis in all areas of residential childcare work, including the following:
• To participate in staff recruitment.
• To monitor the development of staff.
• To induct new staff into the team and daily duties of the home, support and assess new staff with their induction standards.
• To identify staff training needs.
• To monitor and develop members of staff's skills and expertise in childcare.
• To be responsible for maintaining staff rota's, always ensuring adequate cover, and managing staff contracted hours of work.
• To facilitate monthly staff meetings.
• To ensure that staff maintain client confidentiality at all times, as laid down in the company Care Policy.
• To promote a work environment, that supports and encourages staff members to work to
their full potential.
• To be available for ad-hoc supervision of staff
• To supervise care staff formally and regularly, and complete probationary packs, annual
appraisals.

Experience and Qualifications
• A minimum of 1 year's experience of supervising and managing professional staff.
• A minimum of 2 years experience of working with children and young people in a residential setting within the last 5 years.
• Must hold or be working toward a recognised professional qualification relevant to working with children and young people
