Job Title: Systems Accounting Manager

Hybrid - 2 days per week in the office

We are recruiting on behalf of a London Borough. This key role within the Corporate Finance team is responsible for ensuring the integrity of finance systems and leading a team of accountants to maintain and enhance financial systems and processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the maintenance of accurate and meaningful financial information on finance systems
  • Ensure the systems are configured to meet management and statutory reporting requirements, including relevant Codes of Practice.
  • Conduct regular data integrity reviews, data cleansing, and reconciliation of core systems, reports, chart of accounts, and trial balances.
  • Maintain security and approval protocols within finance systems, ensuring adherence to the Council Constitution and audit requirements.
  • Oversee the functionality of finance systems and their associated system feeders.
  • Test patches and system upgrades to ensure continued suitability.
  • Collaborate with the IT ERP Team to resolve system issues and conduct testing on proposed solutions.
  • Ensure key reconciliations are maintained and accurate.
  • Contribute to the closure of accounts process and support the production of the year-end Statement of Accounts.
  • Manage the internal and external audit processes, addressing queries and implementing recommendations promptly and accurately.
  • Support the implementation of system improvements and ongoing solutions to address finance system weaknesses.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Proven experience in systems accounting and financial management.
  • Experience working with finance systems
  • Strong understanding of financial processes, reconciliation, and reporting.
  • Familiarity with statutory reporting requirements and Codes of Practice.
  • Ability to lead a team, manage projects, and implement system improvements.
