Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant Full Time Stockport (SK3)

Are you a Psychology graduate eager to gain hands-on experience in the field of education and child development? Prospero Teaching is currently seeking ambitious and compassionate graduates to join a school in Stockport (SK3) as a Teaching Assistant. This is a fantastic long-term opportunity to apply your psychology expertise to support students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties.

Position Overview:

Location: Stockport, SK3
Position: Graduate Teaching Assistant (Psychology background preferred)
Type of Work: Full-time, Long-term (temp-to-permanent)
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: 8:30 am 3:30 pm (Monday to Friday)
Contract Type: Temporary with potential for a permanent contract after a qualifying period
Pay: GBP95+ per day, depending on experience
Key Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 and group support to students with SEN, SEMH, and other learning difficulties, helping them to engage in the classroom and improve their emotional well-being.
Assist the class teacher in developing and implementing personalised strategies to meet the diverse needs of the students.
Use psychological insights to support behaviour management and promote positive emotional development.
Foster a nurturing and inclusive environment, encouraging students to overcome barriers to learning and develop confidence.
Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SEN coordinators, and external support teams to ensure the best outcomes for all students.
Qualifications and Experience:

A Psychology degree or related discipline is essential.
Experience working with children or young people in any capacity (volunteering, mentoring, or tutoring) is highly desirable.
Interest or knowledge in SEN, SEMH, or child psychology is advantageous.
Safeguarding training is beneficial but can be provided.
Candidate Requirements:

Right to work in the UK.
Hold or be willing to process an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate, registered with the online update service.
Able to provide two professional references, including one related to working with children.
