Mechanical Design Engineer

If you are a skilled mechanical design engineer with experience working on special purpose machinery used in manufacturing and FMCG sectors then this could be the ideal new role for you.As a Mechanical Design Engineer, where you will have the opportunity to work on both customer and development projects in a highly collaborative environment. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in electro-mechanical design, looking to make a significant impact in an international company.Day-to-day of the role:
• Perform design work for customer and development projects, ensuring all mechanical aspects are well-coordinated and integrated with other engineering disciplines.
• Attend specification meetings with global customers, providing expert contributions on mechanical design aspects.
• Provide technical guidance internally and externally, and take responsibility for the mechanical integrity of projects.
• Communicate effectively with other design engineers to ensure seamless project development.
• Travel occasionally to both UK and international destinations as required by project needs.
• Generate creative design concepts and produce detailed schemes, parts lists, assembly, and detail drawings.
• Manage project timelines and adhere to cost targets in design, purchasing, and assembly phases.
• Conduct risk assessments on machinery and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
• Stay updated with developments in safety legislation and participate in relevant training.
• Collaborate across departments to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
• Support assembly personnel during the build phase and assist in project commissioning.
• Assist the Sales team and Applications Manager with technical drawings and project estimations.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
• Advanced 3D modelling skills, preferably in SolidWorks. Experience with sheet metal is advantageous.
• Proven ability in design for manufacture and assembly, meeting cost and time targets.
• Ability to produce and interpret 2D production drawings with GD&T.
• Capable of performing engineering calculations and analysis as needed.
• Minimum 5-10 years’ experience in a Design/Development Engineering role, preferably in electro-mechanical equipment.
• Engineering Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Integrated Engineering, or a related field (Minimum HNC).
• Knowledge of machinery directives and UKCA/CE marking standards.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to lead technically on larger projects.Benefits:
