Key Responsibilities:

Act as Lead / Principal Design HSE engineer on projects and proposals
Ensure technical quality and adherence to programme and cost targets
Perform Design HSE tasks and supervise junior engineers as needed
Assist the Chief Design HSE Engineer with resource planning
Monitor and report design progress and man-hour usage
Collaborate proactively with multi-disciplinary project delivery teams
Ensure Design HSE integration into overall engineering design
Support the Chief Design HSE Engineer in technical development of the function
Provide Design HSE advice and support to colleagues and subordinates

Job Requirements:

Degree in a process-related discipline
Chartered Engineer and member of a relevant engineering institution (e.g., IChemE)
Significant knowledge and experience in Design HSE / Technical Safety for the UK onshore market
Background in engineering consultancy or contracting design
Operational experience is advantageous
Experience in the full project lifecycle: scoping, outline design, detailed design, construction support, commissioning, and handover
Proficiency in applying relevant industry codes, standards, and guidelines
Experience in technical safety engineering definitions including consequence analysis, risk assessments, and hazardous area classification
Knowledge of PHAST, DSEAR/Hazardous area classification, risk assessments, Hazard Studies, LOPA / SIL assessment
Good communication skills
Experience with hydrogen is advantageous
