My client is a world-leading performing arts centre in the heart of London. They are seeking a Facilities Manager to support join their established FM team. The ideal candidate will have a hands-on attitude, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to environmental sustainability. This role is integral to ensuring the safety, maintenance, and efficient operation of their facilities.
Day to Day of the Role: - Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations and proactively manage the school’s safety in light of various challenges.
- Maintain fire protection provisions, conduct weekly fire alarm tests, and periodic evacuation drills.
- Oversee facilities maintenance contracts and ensure timely servicing of all plant, equipment, and premises.
- Coordinate and oversee on-site contractors, ensuring adherence to safety and conduct standards.
- Manage the school’s IT infrastructure in liaison with outsourced IT service providers, ensuring efficient and effective operation.
- Maintain oversight of fixed assets and ensure compliance with GDPR.
- Manage reception and security staffing, ensuring adequate security provisions are in place.
- Liaise with cleaning contractors and oversee waste disposal and recycling collections.
- Support staff by arranging training in IT, health and safety, First Aid, fire safety, and other relevant areas.
Required Skills & Qualifications: - At least 5 years’ experience in a similar facilities management role.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a good hands-on attitude.
- Ability to problem-solve, time manage, delegate, and prioritise.
- Attention to detail and good organisational skills.
- Numerate and IT literate with good written and spoken English.
- Willingness to train and upgrade skills as necessary.
- Experience in procurement and contract negotiation.
- Desirable: Understanding of environmental issues, sustainability, and a commitment to carbon reduction.
