The Role
We currently have an opening for a Head of Business Control & Special Projects (Head of FP&A) to join our Finance team.
The role can be based in any of the following offices: Aberdeen, Glasgow, Edinburgh or London
The Head of FP&A will advise and assist management to improve business operations and performance via effective oversight of financial and operational performance.
Key responsibilities:
- Together with the Heads of Service Groups (HOSGs) and CFO / COO take P&L responsibility for the Group generating revenue of ~£100m with an EBITDA margin of ~15% ~1,000 staff
- Accountable for financial transparency of the business and overall financial performance of the Group as well as its individual constituents
- Propose measures for performance improvement of any nature and size, be it organic growth, cost reduction and capital efficiency improvement. Co-lead implementation together with HOSG
- Prepare results meetings and presentations on actuals and forecasting to CEO, CFO and COO and HOSG
- Accountable for performance and output of Business Controllers and the Business Control function
- Accountable for production and analysis of accurate financial and management reports for operational management
- Accountable for accurate and on time reporting and up to date and accurate information in Power BI. Also includes leading BI projects to improve or expand the tool
- Deliver the budget for the Group through management and leadership together with HOSG and CFO / COO
- Analyse, control, budget and re-forecast financial performance across the Group to improve:
- Sales, costs, Opex and Operational efficiency
- Assist with the business case and integration of acquisitions
- Leading on and delivering BAU finance deliverables
- Weekly KPI reporting process management
- Monthly gross profit reporting process management
- KPI dashboard development, data validation and maintenance
- Annual Group budgeting & re-forecasting processes
- Leading on and delivering finance project work:
- Group consolidated LBO model development and maintenance
- Bank refinancing modelling (P&L, BS and CF)
- Acquisitions & disposals modelling and review of external FDD
- Management of the financial element of the exit process including liaising with external advisors and stakeholders
- Run rate, leverage and covenant reporting and analysis
Education and skills
- Strong academic background and fully qualified (CA, ACCA, CIMA)
- Highly proficient Excel skills
- Demonstrable experience leading finance teams
- Highly analytical
- Excellent presentation and communication skills
- Passionate about data and data-driven decision making
- Thrives in operational execution excellence
- Energetic and self-starter
- Team player, hands-on, inquisitive
- Experience of dealing with complexity and ambiguity.
Experience
- Substantial experience in Business Control (or similar function) in £150m-£200m+ turnover business
- Relevant private equity experience
- Exit process experience for £100m-£200m+ enterprise valuation
- Refinancing & fundraising experience in private equity backed business
- Highly acquisitive organisation
- Multi-site, business services sector, with extensive people-planning challenges
- Experience with PowerBI
