We are currently working with an outstanding schools based in Ealing who are looking for a Chef to join them. The successful applicant would join a well-informed and ambitious staff and would benefit from extensive training and development opportunities.    

The school are seeking a talented, professional, pro-active and organised Chef to assist the Catering manager to work in a busy but rewarding school canteen. The successful candidate will work closely with the Catering |manager to ensure the school’s Café & Kitchen Quality standards are met.

You will also have an opportunity to bring your ideas to the table and create exciting menus for the staff and students at the school.

An enhanced DBS is required for this role.

Role Purpose and Role

  • To be situated in the kitchen and fulfil the café requirements in serving of hot drinks and snacks.
  • Assistance with preparing and cooking food as well as maintaining the café area and kitchen
  • Follow all guidelines for food hygiene and health and safety, legally and the school’s own policies and procedures
  • Daily and weekly ordering of stock
  • Monitor stock take and stock rotation
  • Control of food that leaves the kitchen and cafe
  • Good housekeeping to the required standard
  • Take responsibility for the cleaning of the kitchen and café areas

Key Accountabilities and Result Areas

  • The preparation and cooking of all food for daily sales including sandwiches.
  • Monitoring and guiding staff in the kitchen.
  • The preparation, cooking and delivery of food for functions and meetings.
  • Help with input of new menus.
  • Complete all documentation required legally by the school.
  • Working closely with the Catering Manager on all food related issues and tasks.
  • To ensure food preparation areas are clean and tidy.

Skills, Abilities and Experience

  • The ability to work on own initiative.
  • The ability to work on your own and as part of a team
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Organisation and time management skills
  • Basic I.T skills including Word and Excel
  • Basic understanding of health and safety requirements
  • Must have experience in coffee making and associated tools and devices
