My client is looking for a HR Officer to work at a School around the Ilford area. This is a Full-time Permanent role, and it will be working Term-time only + 1 week.

Purpose of the Position:
• To work closely with the School Business Manager, Head of School & Executive Headteacher, providing professional guidance and advice in all aspects of Human Resources to promote the school's ethos and aims and support teaching and learning.
• To assist the Head of School & Executive Headteacher to ensure that the school meets its educational aims and requirements of the School Improvement Plan.

Duties & Responsibilities:
• Support the Leadership Team to ensure that all safeguarding arrangements are in place to ensure the welfare of all children and staff.
• To work under the guidance of the School Business Manager on the development, monitoring and evaluation of complex school systems for human resources in order to respond to the changing needs of the school and achieve best value.
• Provide support to the School Business Manager, Head of School, Executive Headteacher, & Governors in respect of highly confidential issues, e.g. Employment Tribunal Claims.
• To liaise with external support for the provision of specialist advice and guidance to be discussed with the School Business Manager and Leadership Team based upon national and local guidelines/policy/statute etc.
• Act as point of liaison between school and external professionals and agencies, including managing and organising placement processes with universities and other organisations in respect of students and volunteers.
• To support with the induction process for new staff, apprentices, students and volunteers as and when required.
• Liaise with Pay & Contracts, Human Resources and Employment Relations departments, managing new starters, contract amendments, leavers, maternities and sickness and ensuring that all documentation is in place.
• Manage referrals to Occupational Health, liaising as necessary in order to make reasonable adjustments for staff.
• Manage the maintenance and updating of staff personnel files, both electronically and on paper.
• In collaboration with the School Business Manager, support with monthly contract amendments and absence reporting.
• To support the School Business Manager to maintain accurate staff records on the school's management information system and in the preparation of the annual School Workforce Census.
• To be responsible for processing DBS applications for all staff, apprentices and volunteers and for ensuring that the necessary safeguarding requirements are in place for students and work experience placements.
• Advise and support the School Business Manager, Head of School and Executive Headteacher with the personnel aspects of competency, disciplinary, retirement or redundancy procedures.
• To provide minute-taking services to confidential meetings and ensure these are distributed in a timely manner. Attend meetings/conferences/training sessions/workshops as required for professional development / compliance.
• In collaboration and under the guidance of the School Business Manager create, review and develop complex school and Governing Board policies, procedures and reports, ensuring these are updated as necessary.
• Work within the guidelines of policy/procedure/statute to ensure the school's compliance and initiate appropriate action arising.
