About the Pub

The Fox & Hounds is a great community pub situated in the heart of Forest Gate. The pub has a lovely traditional feel as you enter, with the bar area as the focal point in the centre of the business. The main area has seating for approximately 40 with a mixture of low and high tables. There is also a pool & darts area at the rear. The Fox & Hounds is a great place for all occasions whether it be a quiet drink, a sporting occasion, meeting up with friends or a big celebration. The pub is popular for live sports with the pub housing large TV screens showing Sky Sports events. Weekends are lively with entertainment and karaoke events, something the new publican should look to continue. Externally, to the rear of the pub is a cosy courtyard with seating for approximately 30 guests. The Fox & Hounds is an established local in Forest Gate and is currently experiencing excellent sales growth with the Elizabeth line station right opposite generating new customers every week. The regular customer base is strong with customers frequenting from 10am every day.

Regional Manager's Thoughts

Regional Manager Alex believes: The Fox & Hounds is a great little pub, a real local boozer where everyone knows everyone. The business is always busy and has a very loyal base of customers. However, with the right operator I believe this business could be even better and has loads of potential.

Surrounding Area

The area's name relates to its position adjacent to Wanstead Flats the southernmost part of Epping Forest. The town was historically part of the parish (and later borough) of West Ham. Forest Gate has been part of the London Borough of Newham and the town forms most of the London E7 postcode district.

Neighbouring areas include Leytonstone to the north, East Ham to the east, Plaistow to the south and Stratford to the west.

The Fox is situated on a busy intersection on the main road, offset with a large pedestrian footpath, enough space for outside seating and cafe barriers. The Forest Tavern is situated next door which has much different offering to our own and we don't share the same customers usually.

The high street has many local shops, Sainsburys and Tesco express all within a short walk. The new Elizabeth Line station is directly opposite which offers great transports links.

Some of our sister pubs are nearby also including the Bell in Leytonstone, Queens Head in Strafford, Little Driver in Bow and a handful of others.
