Location: Glasgow

Salary: £26,000 - £33,000 DOE

Shift: Monday to Friday with Hybrid Option Available

Protea Recruitment is working with a large ambient food manufacturer based in the Glasgow area to find a Specifications Technologist to join their Technical team. This role involves managing product specifications, supporting factory trials, ensuring compliance with customer and legal requirements, and maintaining technical documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

* Ensure that all required internal and external documentation is completed to specification, with traceability of any changes to recipes or processes

* Support factory trials for both customer and internal projects, ensuring documentation is completed and actions are followed up

* Establish and document appropriate testing methods and parameters for product components and finished products

* Review artwork and packaging against agreed pack copy, legal and company requirements, reporting and addressing any discrepancies

* Maintain and update customer portals, responding to alerts and escalating concerns to management when necessary

* Oversee raw material and packaging specifications approval and support supplier audits as required

* Work closely with NPD, Technical, and Production teams to ensure product specifications align with factory capabilities

* Adhere to the company's HACCP system, identifying any issues with compliance and reporting them to management

What We're Looking For:

* Experience in a food manufacturing technical or specifications role (open to a range of experience levels)

* Degree in Food Science, Technology, Nutrition (or relevant experience)

* Strong knowledge of specifications, food legislation, allergens & labelling

* Understanding of HACCP systems and compliance requirements

* Excellent organisation and communication skills
