Interim Accountant

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented interim accountant to join a growing team for an initial 3-6 months. This project role is crucial in helping to streamline and organise financial operations, with the potential for an extended contract as additional projects are planned.

This role will offer hybrid working with 2 days office based, and can either be worked on a salary basis (£40,000 - £50,000 pro rata) or on the day rate equivalent.

Key Responsibilities:

• The primary task will involve cleaning up and reconciling outdated accruals, with a significant focus on accrued revenue. Some of these accruals date back to 2021, and clarity is needed on whether they still require payment or if they are already covered under existing contracts.
• Address specific challenges related to cost accruals, ensuring all financial records are up-to-date and accurately reflect current liabilities.
• Establish and maintain processes to track specific expenditures, ensuring accurate and efficient financial oversight.
• Set up systems to manage income streams that are not paid until year-end, particularly those that are activity-focused. This will involve creating effective trackers and ensuring all income is accounted for accurately.
• Conduct various reconciliations to ensure all financial data aligns with company records.
• Implement processes to monitor specific costs, analyse spending patterns, and work towards consolidating suppliers for better financial management.

What We’re Looking For:

• A part qualified, qualified, or QBE accountant with experience in handling complex reconciliations and process improvement.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to dig into financial records to identify and resolve discrepancies.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating initiative in tackling financial challenges.
• Familiarity with industry-specific contracts and financial processes is a plus, though not essential.
