Care Home Chef

4 days per week (07:00 - 15:00), including every other weekend
Hourly Rate: £12.50

Our client is seeking an experienced and dedicated Chef to join their care home team, which is committed to delivering exceptional service and comfort to residents. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing nutritious, high-quality meals tailored to the individual dietary needs of residents. This role requires strong culinary skills, an understanding of food hygiene, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

What we’re looking for

• Level 2 Food Hygiene Certification or higher.
• NVQ or SVQ Level 2 in General Catering (or equivalent).
• Previous experience in a care home or similar setting.
• Proven experience in a kitchen environment, particularly in catering for large groups.
• Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively with staff and residents.
• Creativity and passion for preparing high-quality meals.

Your day-to-day

• Meal Preparation: Prepare and cook meals that are nutritious, appealing, and meet a variety of dietary requirements, including allergies, intolerances, and texture modifications.
• Kitchen Hygiene: Maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen environment in compliance with food safety regulations.
• Resident Interaction: Communicate with residents to understand their preferences and incorporate their feedback into meal planning.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with the kitchen team and care home staff to ensure an exceptional dining experience for residents.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulations such as COSHH, Health & Safety, and HACCP to maintain high operational standards.
• Menu Planning: Assist in planning menus and managing food orders using basic IT skills to ensure efficiency and cost control.
