Job Description:
Equitas is working on behalf of our client, to recruit a dedicated and reliable School Caretaker. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall maintenance, security, and cleanliness of the school premises, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for both staff and students.

Key Responsibilities:

Site Security:

* Open and close the school premises as per the school's schedule.

* Ensure the security of school buildings, gates, and grounds, including regular patrols.

* Respond to emergencies and incidents promptly, taking appropriate action to protect the safety and security of all site users.

*

General Maintenance:

* Carry out routine maintenance tasks, including repairs to doors, windows, lighting, heating, and other building systems.

* Undertake basic DIY tasks and work closely with contractors when necessary for larger repairs or refurbishments.

* Perform regular checks and inspections of school buildings and grounds to ensure everything is in good condition.

Health & Safety:

* Ensure that all health and safety protocols are followed, including regular risk assessments and the maintenance of fire safety equipment.

* Carry out safety checks on playground equipment, ensuring it is safe for use.

* Manage the safe disposal of waste and ensure proper cleaning of the school's communal areas.

Cleaning and Hygiene:

* Oversee the cleaning of school facilities, ensuring that classrooms, hallways, and public spaces are well-maintained and hygienic.

* Manage stock levels of cleaning materials and ensure they are used appropriately.

* Ensure the proper maintenance and cleaning of school toilets and other essential facilities.

General Support:

* Assist with the moving of furniture and equipment for school events, sports days, and assemblies.

* Support staff with setting up classrooms and preparing the site for daily activities.

* Assist with other ad-hoc tasks as required by the school.

Key Skills & Experience:

* Proven experience in a caretaking or maintenance role, preferably within a school or similar environment.

* Knowledge of basic building maintenance and health & safety regulations.

* Ability to use cleaning and maintenance equipment safely.

* Good communication skills and the ability to work well with staff, students, and external contractors.

* A proactive, hands-on approach to problem-solving and tasks.

* Flexibility to work on-call or outside of regular hours if needed.

Qualifications:

* A DBS check will be required for the successful candidate
