We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teacher to join our committed team in an SEN school in the London Borough of Redbridge. This role is an exciting opportunity for a professional with a strong commitment to supporting and empowering students with special educational needs.
Key Responsibilities - Deliver Tailored Education: Design, adapt, and deliver lessons tailored to the unique learning needs of students with a range of SEN, including ASD, ADHD, and other complex needs.
- Individualized Support: Create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs), setting realistic but ambitious targets to support each student's development.
- Collaboration with Support Staff: Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and other support staff to ensure a holistic approach to each student's learning and personal development.
- Monitoring and Assessment: Regularly assess and record student progress, adapting teaching strategies as needed, and provide feedback to parents, guardians, and the senior leadership team.
- Behavior Management: Implement and uphold the school's behavior policy, using positive reinforcement and specialized strategies to support students' emotional and social needs.
- Continuous Professional Development: Stay informed of best practices and new SEN teaching strategies, participating in relevant training and workshops to enhance your professional skill set.
- Parental Engagement: Maintain positive and open communication with parents and guardians, providing regular updates on their child's progress and collaborating on goals.
Person Specification - Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is required.
- Experience: Previous experience working in an SEN setting, with a track record of adapting teaching for diverse needs and demonstrating patience, creativity, and empathy.
- Skills: Strong understanding of SEN teaching strategies, particularly for ASD, ADHD, and other complex needs; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; effective behavior management skills; adaptability to dynamic classroom environments.
- Commitment: A genuine dedication to improving educational outcomes for students with SEN, fostering their independence and self-confidence.
