Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Estimator with a strong background in Reinforced Concrete to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for reinforced concrete projects, ensuring all bids are competitive and in line with company standards. You will collaborate closely with project managers, clients, and the wider commercial team to help secure profitable contracts across various sectors, including residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for reinforced concrete works, including materials, labour, and time requirements.
- Review and analyse project specifications, drawings, and tender documents.
- Work closely with project teams to understand project goals, requirements, and constraints.
- Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client meetings to gather necessary information for accurate estimating.
- Evaluate and assess potential risks and opportunities during the tendering process.
- Ensure all estimates comply with relevant building regulations and safety standards.
- Assist in the preparation of bids, tenders, and proposals.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Support post-tender handover to the project team, providing detailed breakdowns and clarifications as needed.
Skills & Experience Required
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of estimating experience, specifically in reinforced concrete structures.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of the reinforced concrete market, including materials, techniques, and pricing trends.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in estimating software (such as Causeway, CCS, or similar) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate and timely estimates.
- Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and under tight deadlines.
- Qualifications: Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or Construction Management (preferred).
- Driving License: Full UK clean driving license.
Desirable
- Previous experience with large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with industry-standard contract forms such as NEC or JCT.
- Knowledge of BIM (Building Information Modelling) and its application in reinforced concrete projects.
