Motus Truck and Van is a leading provider of commercial vehicles and fleet solutions.
We are dedicated to delivering high-quality, reliable Mercedes-Benz vehicles to our customers, and our van sales division plays a crucial part in our success.

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced General Sales Manager to lead our Ipswich Van Sales team, driving the growth and profitability of this branch.

What will you be doing?

As General Sales Manager, you will be responsible for the overall management of our dedicated Sales facility in Ipswich. You will lead a team of van sales executives, supporting them in meeting and exceeding their performance and KPI targets by providing an exceptional customer experience across all channels. Your role will encompass a wide range of responsibilities, including but not limited to:

Team Leadership:

  • Guide and inspire the Sales Team, in-line with clearly defined KPIs and performance expectations.
  • Support the Team with coaching, mentoring and regular performance reviews.
  • Continually review sales process for suitability & adherence, with customer experience our priority.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies relating to sales transactions.
  • Enhance the skills and product knowledge of the sales team by engaging fully with Manufacturer training programmes and delivering ad-hoc training on site.
Enquiry Management:

  • Drive outbound prospecting activities to generate sufficient enquiries to exceed agreed targets.
  • Actively manage the progress of all opportunities inbound and outbound.
  • Optimise use of all available CRM and sales systems to support best possible outcomes.
Reporting:

  • Provide regular, timely updates on order intake, payment status, handovers and CSI scores.
  • Submit regular weekly forecasts for new & used vans - sales, profitability & stock (turn & costs).
Stock Management:

  • Oversee the management of all new and used van stock, ensuring well-balanced new and used vehicle display areas in line with Manufacturer Standards.
  • Manage new and used stock mix & ageing profiles by conducting weekly pricing reviews and proposing any changes or tactical campaigns.
  • Evaluate used stock opportunities using the company's appraisal tools to ensure consistency when liaising with Group Buyer.
  • Ensure sold units are managed effectively to balance deliveries throughout each month.
  • Manage demonstrators to ensure all available units are presented to the highest standards. Follow all company policies when loaning demonstrators.
Site Presentation:

  • Ensure site & showroom are kept orderly & clean, reflective of the excellent experience we provide all our customers.
  • General Sales Manager is key contact for any site Health & Safety requirements at this site.
Additional Responsibilities:

Aftersales Collaboration:

  • Manage effective communication with the Aftersales teams to ensure customers receive excellent service levels and support, enhancing overall customer satisfaction. Provide timely updates on sold units to facilitate workshop preparation planning.
Manufacturer Relationships:

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with Manufacturer and supplier partners to leverage opportunities and deliver best possible outcomes.
Compliance:

  • Ensure adherence to all FCA rules, regulations and Consumer Duty obligations by checking & approving all proposals are issued transparently & in the best interests of the customer. Ensure that we act, at all times, in line with our Manufacturer Partners' compliance policies.
Hours & Salary:

  • Monday - Friday
  • 40 hours per week
  • Salary of £47,500.00 per annum plus a company bonus
  • Company Car
Profile:

The successful candidate will have:

  • Proven Senior Management experience within the retail automotive industry. Van-specific experienced preferred.
  • Successful track record leading a team to exceeding expectations in a highly complex environment.
  • Dynamic: Ability to switch between detailed analysis and strategic outlook.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of retail standards, best practice and compliance.
  • Confidence in using Autotrader, CRM & other systems to help consistently deliver effective results.
  • Effective communicator, negotiator, and relationship-builder.
