We are seeking a talented and motivated Software Developer II to join our development team.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in COBOL, CICS, DB2, and JCL, with experience in maintenance programming and enhancements. This role will involve a mix of development, maintenance, user support, and compliance with organizational standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Development & Maintenance:
    • Develop new code for applications as needed .
    • Maintain existing COBOL/CICS/DB2 programs to ensure optimal performance and functionality.
    • Implement small enhancements to improve system capabilities and user experience.
  • User Support:
    • Assist users with queries and provide technical support to resolve issues.
    • Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and optimize application performance.
  • Scheduling & Job Control:
    • Utilize Control-M for job scheduling, ensuring timely execution of batch processes.
    • Monitor scheduled jobs and take necessary actions to address failures or delays.
  • After-Hours Support:
    • Provide after-hours support and standby, responding promptly to critical issues as they arise.
  • Compliance:
    • Adhere to all Nedbank standards and processes in development and maintenance activities.
    • Document all changes and enhancements in accordance with internal protocols.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Proficient in COBOL, CICS, DB2, and JCL with practical experience in the aforementioned technologies.
  • Familiarity with Control-M job scheduling software.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in software development and maintenance, specifically in a legacy environment.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in a financial services environment is a plus.
