We are looking for a T Level Principal Examiner to join us in the development and delivery of our Employer-Set Project in Engineering, Manufacturing, Processing and Control (EMPC).

This associate role gives you the opportunity to work alongside your current job, to build additional income with competitive daily rates, and to continue to develop your own skills and development.

The Task Profile outlines the expectations of the Principal Examiner role, and the Person Specification outlines the experience we're looking for someone to have as a Principal Examiner.

Further detail on these elements, including sample assessments, can be found in the qualification specification on the 8730 qualification webpage (https://#removed#/qualifications-and-apprenticeships/engineering/mechanical/8730-t-level-technical-qualification-in-engineering-and-manufacturing-core#tab=information).

The Employer-set project (ESP) assesses the knowledge and skills learned as part of the core element of the T Level.

The ESP is set and marked by City & Guilds and delivered across a Summer and Autumn series each year. The project is made up of a number of set tasks which all relate to an Employer-set project brief that is different each series;

- Research

- Report

- Design

- Present

The project draws on the content from the core knowledge that sits across all specialisms for that pathway (specific knowledge and skills for each specialism will be assessed in the practical assignments).

The project is linked to the core skills:

- Planning and preparation

- Communication and presentation

- Developing responses

- Analyse and interpreting

- Evaluation and quality assuring

Below is an outline of when we expect activities to take place:

- Assessment Production: Ongoing throughout the year outside of key marking and awarding windows

- Standardisation & marking window: November to January (Autumn series), and May to June (Summer series).

- Awarding / Standard setting: February (Autumn series) and July (Summer series).

As part of the role, you will be required to be involved in both the production and delivery of the Employer-Set Project (ESP). This includes the writing of the Employer-Set Project as well as supervising a team of marking examiners during the marking of the ESP, and undertake sampling throughout.

NB: Applications will be reviewed on an on-going basis. Successful applicants for the Principal Examiner positions may be asked to carry out a short task, attend a telephone interview and/or attend training as part of the second stage of recruitment, before being confirmed in role.

When completing your application, it is essential you read the person specification fully, and map your application to show where you meet the requirements set out. If you would like to be considered for one paper in particular, please specify this within your application.

Please note applications that do not demonstrate meeting the person specification may be declined or delayed.  We look forward to receiving your application.

We believe that diversity and inclusion strengthen and enriches us, and that it is the responsibility of everyone at the City & Guilds Group to drive this value. We work hard to be inclusive in our approach to recruitment and associate opportunities, whilst still ensuring we meet our regulatory requirements.
