Sure Staffing is proud to be recruiting for one of the UK's largest producers and packers of mushrooms located in York. We are seeking an Engineering Manager to join our team and deliver hands-on engineering leadership while driving operational excellence.

As the Engineering Manager, your key responsibility is to ensure the smooth operation of the site's production objectives by leading and motivating the engineering team with a hands-on approach. You will be expected to spend 60-70% of your time on the factory floor.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, motivate, and support the engineering team to achieve KPIs that align with business objectives.
• Recruit, retain, and develop team members to maintain optimal staffing levels.
• Plan, prioritize, and manage engineering workloads and delegate tasks effectively.
• Ensure maintenance of plant, equipment, and systems complies with legislation.
• Diagnose and address performance and safety issues with plant or equipment.
• Develop cost-effective engineering stores systems and champion industry best practices.
• Implement preventative maintenance systems and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), and health & safety regulations.
• Be part of the site's Food Safety, HACCP, TACCP, and VACCP team.
• Take accountability for machinery functionality, minimizing disruption to production.
• Provide on-call support to resolve out-of-hours issues.

• Relevant qualification in mechanical or electrical engineering.
• Extensive knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, including 16th/17th Edition certification.
• Strong communication, leadership, and project management skills.
• Excellent organizational and analytical abilities with meticulous attention to detail.
• Proactive approach with strong time management skills and the ability to work under pressure.

• NEBOSH/IOSH qualification.
• Previous experience as an Engineering Manager in a food manufacturing environment.
• Food hygiene qualification.
  
  

• 28 days of holiday (including bank holidays, worked and taken in lieu).

  Working hours:
  

• 40/45 hours per week.

• Start time to be confirmed - Monday - Friday - occasional Saturdays and Sundays required in peak periods.
