Spencer Clarke Group are seeking a Homelessness Prevention Officer for a local authority client based in Berkshire.

In this role, you will manage a caseload of Prevention and Relief Duty cases, conduct detailed homelessness investigations, and make informed main duty decisions to support individuals and families at risk of homelessness.

Key Duties:

  • Manage a caseload of Prevention and Relief Duty cases, conducting investigations and making decisions under the Housing Act 1996 and Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
  • Support the duty homelessness service, providing advice and developing personalised housing plans to prevent and relieve homelessness.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to secure housing solutions and maintain accurate case records using Housing Jigsaw.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant housing legislation and offer guidance on complex cases while sharing best practices with colleagues.

Qualifications and Experience:

The successful candidate will have the following skills / experience:

  • Proven experience managing Prevention and Relief Duty cases, conducting investigations, and making decisions under the Housing Act 1996 and Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
  • Skilled in developing and implementing personalised housing plans (PHPs) to prevent and relieve homelessness.
  • Experience using Housing Jigsaw for case management and collaborating with internal teams and external agencies to secure housing solutions.
  • Strong ability to handle complex cases, ensuring compliance with housing legislation and providing expert advice to those at risk of homelessness.

What's on offer:

Salary: £28+ph

*may negotiate higher for exceptional candidates, based on experience*

Contract type: 6, months minimum, with a high likelihood of extension

Hours: Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week
