Job description

Are you an experienced Support Worker looking for a new role that is rewarding and provides a sense of satisfaction?

Would you like to provide support to a young man in the community to enable him to live his life to the full?

If the answer to these questions is 'yes', then this role could be for you!

Your Responsibilities as a Support Worker

You will be supporting a very sociable 26-year-old male with a learning disability who requires 2:1 support during the day and 1:1 support overnight. He lives in his own home and the role will include enabling him to maintain his active social life whilst adhering to an established routine of activities. This young man enjoys watching his favourite TV programmes, going to do his personal shopping, listening to music and attending concerts. As part of the team supporting him, you will ensure that care is provided in a way that respects this young man and promotes his independence.

Experience needed

You will be a strong character, resilient, robust and really interested in supporting this individual in a way that makes him feel safe and fully secure. You will be self-motivated, flexible and have the ability to use your own initiative whilst being caring and sensitive to the needs of others. Ideally, you will have supported a child or adult with PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance) previously or have supported children or adults with Autism (ASD) and/or a learning disability. You will also need to hold a full driving licence. Experience as a Support Worker or similar role would be ideal, but having a positive attitude towards working with additional needs and making a difference is the most important criteria for this role.

What you'll get in return

As well as having the opportunity to make a real difference to the life of the young man you are supporting, you will also benefit from the following:-

Full induction/training
Paid shadowing with experienced staff members
Regular refresher training
On-going continuing personal development including gaining qualifications if you choose to
A regular shift pattern to include some weekends
