Supply Heroes are working in collaboration with a Primary School based in the Edgbaston area of Birmingham who are looking for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join them as soon as possible. This role is to begin as soon as possible and will continue for the duration of the academic year.

The role, a SEND Teaching Assistant, is to work with a pupil in Year 1. The child is non-verbal and has a diagnosis of ASD. Experience of Makaton and/or BSL will be desirable.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing individual 1:1 support to a pupil with Autism as well as giving additional classroom support where needed. Therefore, somebody who has a passion of working in SEN, good adaptability and strong relationship building will thrive in this role. The role will be for the rest of the academic year, Monday to Friday.

The ideal candidate will have:

* A relevant qualification, such as a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or a degree in Education

* Experience of working with pupils with SEN

* A depth of knowledge of the primary school curriculum

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

* The ability to work independently and as part of a team

* A positive and patient approach
