SEN Teaching Assistant

About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist ARP unit, supporting 8 Reception - Year 1 students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). You will work alongside two experienced staff members, using visual aids, flashcards, and communication tools to assist non-verbal students. The role involves positive handling strategies, personal care, and outdoor sensory activities to help students engage and regulate emotions. Team Teach training is desirable but not essential.

Applicants Should:

• Have experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant in a primary school setting.

• Be confident supporting students with ASD, including non-verbal communication methods.

• Have knowledge of positive handling strategies (Team Teach desirable).

• Be caring, patient, and able to provide personal care support.

• Be passionate about creating a safe and engaging learning environment.
