A General Manager is required for a leading logistics services provider in Thurrock.

Our client is a leading logistics services provider.

Description

As the General Manager you will be responsible for providing contractual services and support to one of our clients key customer operations. Reporting in to the Account Director, you will have an Operations Manager, Administration Manager and 4 Shift Managers reporting into you running the day-to-day operations. Your role is to ensure operational excellence and customer satisfaction is consistently achieved across your site. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering quality customer service by understanding the needs, processes and priorities of internal and external customer(s).
  • Ensure the area of responsibility for revenue, cost and margin is well managed and reported accurately.
  • Review operational performance with a view to providing a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Maximise contract performance and identify opportunities for 3rd party growth.
  • Manage site level Trade Union relations.
  • Ensure that positive and progressive employee relations are maintained and are working towards company values.
  • Develop an effective working partnership with our client's customer through trust, openness and mutual respect.
  • Be visible and available to all levels of colleagues to develop site relationships.
  • Ensure KPI targets are monitored and developed via Scorecards.
  • Ensuring full compliance to legal, H&S and our clients policies and procedures.

Profile

The successful Genera Manager will live within a commuting distance of the operation in Thurrock and be able to demonstrate the following experience:

  • Previous experience in leading large scale transport operations.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills biased towards engagement and collaboration.
  • Previous or current trade union engagement experience is key.
  • Have a customer focused approach and previous customer facing experience.
  • Confident decision making and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to identify inefficiencies, challenge the status quo and deliver operational improvements.
  • Sound financial understanding, including budget management.
  • 'O' licence management experience and a current CPC holder.
