The Role

Our client is currently seeking to recruit an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their team working on a traditional £5 million education cut and carve project in South London, the role will be mixture of the office in East London and visiting site a couple of times a week in South London.

The ideal candidate will be well versed in working on refurbishment and/or new build schemes for a reputable general builder.

Roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

* Engage with the tender team to gain a full understanding of the submitted tender and requirements of the contract

* Check contract documents align with submitted tender and obtain guidance on any issues to be resolved prior to contract execution

* Contribute to the development by the internal project team of a plan for successful delivery of the financial and contractual objectives for the project

* Review plans and specifications and produce accurate bills of quantities for procurement of labour, material and subcontractors

* Obtain and analyse tenders for works packages, and produce recommendations for appointment

* Regular visits to site and liaison with site team to ensure a thorough understanding of all site activities

* Measure and value subcontract and upline work in progress, ensuring valuations are certified on time, cash flow is actively managed, and that final accounts are agreed in a timely manner

* Assist with the management of supply chain claims and in the preparation of upline claim submissions

* Regularly review records to establish that they are being maintained by the project team to protect the Company's commercial position and escalate any concerns

* Liaise with key internal and external stakeholders regularly and involve parties as necessary to ensure prompt and effective resolution of issues to facilitate successful project completion

* Provide commercial support to the project team in managing contractual aspects of the project

* Carry out commercial project completion activities

* Give guidance to trainee surveyors where required

Person Specification:

* Must be qualified, preferably with a Quantity Surveying or Construction Management degree

* Needs to be demonstrably driven and focused on learning and developing themselves

* Willing to travel for site visits a couple of times a week

* 4 - 5 years of experience, preferably gained along-side studying
